Hamilton School District is dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience for all of our students. With your recent support in passing the authorization to allow the district to sell the middle school property, the district explored options for an improved educational environment for our middle school students and staff. This process included exploring all district owned property and existing facilities.
An analysis of our current properties/acreage, feedback from various committees and the results of our community survey led the Hamilton School Board to a unanimous vote to run a May 2025 bond that creates a 4th-8th grade campus at the current Westview property. 4th/5th grades will be located in a remodeled version of the current Westview building, and 6th-8th grades will be located in a newly constructed building. These two buildings will be connected by shared services spaces that reduce the cost of the project but still keep the age groups separate during the school day.
The total cost of the bond is $49M. Passage of this proposal will increase the annual taxes on a home with a 2024/25 "market value" of $100,000 by approximately $85.06, a home with a "market value" of $300,000 by approximately $255.18 and a home with a "market value" of $600,000 by approximately $510.36. The bond term will be 25 years.

The overall cost of this new bond is a cost reduction of $20.5 million from the proposed 2023 bond.
Here is how the Westview campus would be designed...
The Westview building (current UM Bitterroot building) would be renovated and expanded to be the 4th/5th grade building. A new 6th-8th grade building would be constructed. The two buildings would be connected by shared service spaces in order to reduce the overall square footage and overall price of the project. This connection may include a central kitchen with separate cafeterias, 2 gyms divided by a solid wall and a central admin area. The 4th/5th grade and 6th-8th grade groups would not interact within these shared spaces during the school day.
