hms bond

Hamilton School District is dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience for all of our students. With your recent support in passing the authorization to allow the district to sell the middle school property, the district continues to explore options for an improved educational environment for our middle school students and staff. This process includes exploring all district owned property and existing facilities.

The Hamilton School Board is considering a renovation/new addition to our Westview campus (current UM Bitterroot).  The 4th/5th grades would be located in a remodeled version of the current Westview building, and 6th-8th grades would be located in a newly constructed building.

The total cost of the proposed bond would be $48M-$54M. Passage of this proposal would increase the taxes on a home with a 2024/25 "market value" of $100,000 by approximately $134-148 per year and a home with a market value of $200,000 by approximately $268-296.

We heard you!

The overall cost of this new bond is a cost reduction of between $15.5-21.5 million from the proposed 2023 bond.

There are 2 options for how the campus can be designed...

Option 1:

- A 4th/5th grade addition and renovation to the existing Westview Facility (current UM Bitterroot).

- A new 6th-8th grade facility physically separated from the 4th/5th grade facility.

Option 2:

- 4th/5th grade and 6th-8th grade buildings that would be connected by shared service spaces while still using the existing Westview building (current UM Bitterroot) in order to reduce the overall square footage and overall price of the project.  This connection may include a central kitchen with separate cafeterias, 2 gyms divided by a solid wall and a central admin area. The 4th/5th grade and 6th-8th grade groups would not interact within these shared spaces during the school day.
