Dear HMS Students and Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to your new school year! Middle school is a fascinating time of transformation and growth for our students, and I am honored to lead a group of dedicated staff who are passionate about helping young people on their journey to their dreams. Our goal is to work with students to help them discover their passions, talents, and goals for their next step in life and equip them with the skills they need to take that step. All of that is encompassed in our motto of “Work Hard and Be Nice.”

In our quest to constantly grow and improve, there will be some changes to our schedule this year. School will still begin at 8:15am and will be dismissed at 3:20pm. Our main doors open at 7:45 (please do not drop students off earlier than 7:45 as we will not be able to supervise them). However, we will be moving to a quarter system which includes 7 class periods each day with a morning team time and a twice-weekly “Taking Care of Business” time. Students will have opportunities during these times to create connections with staff and other students, to get additional academic help, to get involved in school activities and more. A copy of the daily bell schedule is below.

We encourage all students to find activities to get involved in, whether it be sports, the arts, academic clubs, or leadership activities. Connection makes all the difference! The fall sports parent meeting will be August 14th at 6:30pm in the HMS auditorium. Our Athletic Director/Assistant Principal Mr. Lant will be available to answer questions about athletics. Additionally, we hope that parents and guardians will partner with us through our Families For Education (FFE) group. More information will be available on our website as the year progresses.

Each student will receive a copy of the HMS Student Planner and Handbook, which contains valuable information from schedule to code of conduct to hall passes. Please review the handbook with your student, and feel free to contact the office with any questions or to schedule appointments with me at 406.363.2121. I look forward to working with you to create a great middle school experience beginning on August 23rd. GO BRONCS!
